They still aren't in AKC events. The coloring is actually not allowed by the standard for the Yorkshire Terrier, which is what the AKC follows. Like other things, it is considered a fault and results in the dog being disqualified from showing.
(Trying to give you a strait, unbiased answer. Just to let you know, this is a very hot topic and one that does not sit well with either Parti advocates, or those that disagree with breeding outside the standard.)
