Agreed, Im no help as I caved and mine have always slept with me (and my late husband) but it was pretty intensive with me always making sure they were able to 'go' when needed -
I'm a very light sleeper so that worked for me but don't really recommend it - not everyone is able to do this. I'll say it worked and no problems but still - when they're puppies you have to remember they have tiny bladders and will wake you up at all hours to 'go' then it turns into middle of the night 'playtime'.
I kind of loved it but some nights wished I could sleep thru that 2 am playtime thing - it was only my oldest who did that but getting smacked in the face with toys at that hour is something I'm glad stopped as they mature. now with me alone and they're so much older - they pretty much adjusted to MY sleep schedule but it takes time
I agree he wants to be near you - lots of people crate train and you should get some good help from them ! Good luck !
