I have found that it really depends on the elastic. Some catch the hair even if you cut them out. I have found the ones that work best for me are called "Super Stretch" They come in a pack of 250. I got them from Sally Beauty Supply and they are used for professional braiding. I loop 3 times in Trudy's hair...
