Is she going camping with you? You might want to have it done now and get it over with. Doggy diapers work for the bleeding, but if you mean to prevent another dog from getting at her - not at all!
When did she go into heat? Just today? A heat generally lasts 3 weeks, so she might go out of it just prior to going camping.
I know it's a bit more costly and a slight bit more dangerous to have it done when in heat.
