My vet took Zoe to another room to weigh her and also to tape her ears (floppy). I think they do that so that the puppy will sit still longer so they can get an accurate weight. If with the owner the puppy might be overly excited and wiggle too much... and in some cases the owner can be overly anxious (nervous) and the puppy can sense that and react accordingly..
