Some of them could write books on breeding and charge you $20 for it. But here on YT you can get their expert advice for free, tailored to your specific situation. You can get your questions answered. They will sit up with you all night through difficult deliveries.

Whether they are giving you advice, or someone else advice, you would be wise to sit back and take notes.

Don't argue with them, don't contradict the advice that they are giving someone else.

If you are trying to help someone, and one of the experienced breeders joins the thread, step aside and be thankful for the opportunity to learn.

This is totally free education. Why would you argue with it? You'd have to pay your vet handsomely to sit on the phone with you all night answering questions.

Give them the respect that they deserve. Watch and learn and someday you might know as much as they do.

Anyone with less than 10 years of breeding is not experienced. You're still a beginner.
I completely agree - we get so much great advice from them. When the novices have the ignorance to contradict them, I really have to wonder who they are going to count on when they need to deliver the pups? The same breeder that is being bashed in one thread, stays up all night to help someone in a difficult delivery!

If it wasn't for this forum, I wouldn't know what I do, I wouldn't learn so much for so little money and I wouldn't have dedicated breeders willing to help me. In no way should you chat on YT when there is an emergency - go see your vet!
But when it comes to caring for my yorkies, making the right decisions for them, following the latest research and being prepared, the experienced breeders here are indispensable!!

A year ago, I bought a beautiful female puppy with the intent to breed her. After some excellent advice from the breeders here, I decided to spay her and keep her as my lovely pet - she is asleep on my lap at the moment. I found a mentor and we are going to get the best breeding stock ever. I am learning, learning, learning, learning and I feel like I will never be ready, but I now I have two mentors who have years and years of experience who can help me if I don't know the answer. I started a thread to say thank you to the great advice the breeders here gave me.

Just last day, I learnt about not over-vaccinating (which I have been doing ) and I sent emails out to my vet and some new vets to find one that suits us and who won't over-vaccinate, will do bloodwork (never recommended here) and will not just deworm without any evidence of worms.

Great forum and great advice!! This site and the experience of those breeders are priceless $$$$$!!
