I just took Wall-e on his first flight last weekend, but it was only an hour long flight. I gave him a vitamin thing called Pet-Ease that Petsmart sells, but it didn't have any effect on him. He was a little freaked going through security, and cried a little when the plane first went up, and then descended (I think due to ear pressure). I just snuck him some treats in his carrier to get him to chew and he calmed down. He was really good overall, but it was a short flight. Not sure what I would do for a longer flight like yours. I think he'd get restless and a little more vocal.
Before the flight I had him out of his carrier and gave him water and treats and tried to get him to potty, but he wouldn't. I gave him a new toy to chew on in the carrier, and had his familiar blanket in there. I kept a shirt on him too because the plane is always so cold on the floor!
Good luck!
