I'm so sorry to hear this
My Gabby had a slipped disk about 4 years ago, vet said it was probably caused by her jumping up on and off the sofa and bed. He did not do any surgery on her but she stayed at the vet's office for 2 days undergoing IV steroid treatment and then came home on oral meds (that was a job getting her to take!!). We were under strong advice from the vet to pick her up to put her on the sofa or take her off for 4 weeks (as if she wasn't spoiled enough already!). I can sympathize with you and will keep you in my prayers that something can be done soon.
