If your yorkie is small you can pick him up by the scruff of his neck. A lot of the time this calms the dog and "immobilizes" them. Though i warn you, sometimes it freaks them out and makes them scream even though it doesn't hurt. You can also use your other hand to kinda support his hind end so he's not just dangling. If you think you are at any risk of getting bit, use a muzzle.
Alternatively, I think there is a new product out that it like a thick paste. The vet puts it in and it stays there for awhile. There are some concerns with it and I'm not recommending it b/c I've never seen it used (or even know the name of it), but it is something your vet could look into doing.
