I have never heard of it. I even googled it. I feed my dog a combination of Blue Buffalo puppy food and Taste of the Wild, a high protein grain-free very affordable so called super premium food. I would switch Knox over to TOTW completely, except he is only 7 1/2 months old, and TOTW may be too high in protein right now. There is a danger that puppies can grow up too fast. If money is an issue, and you want a highly rated food, I would consider TOTW when your pup matures. It's pretty cheap at Tractor Supply Company. TOTW is made by the same company that your dog food is produced by....Diamond. Most of Diamond's foods are frowned upon here, but TOTW gets a lot of love.
I'm going to buy five pound bags of kibble for Knoxie. He only weighs four lbs and only eats about a half a cup a day plus a treat. That way I can switch things up quite often. He gets burnt out on the same food everyday. While vets don't recommend switching dog food due to stomach upset, I don't buy it. My vet wants me to feed my dog satanic Science Diet, even though it constipated him so bad his butt prolapsed, and I had to rush him to the hospital. Upon switching to Blue Buffalo, he's never had another problem. So I don't trust vets' recommendations when it comes to feeding. That being said, I am going to try some Canidae, another highly rated food, next because I saw it at a local store, and I want to see if Knox takes to it.
Look on the label. The first ingredient says it all. Every single dog food at Walmart lists the first ingredient as corn. The first ingredient is the most abundant ingredient, and it should be meat. Blue Buffalo for puppies lists the first ingredient as deboned chicken. For Taste of the Wild (prarie flavor), it's bison. |
