Sushi is not fishy at all, and if it is you probably need to go to a new sushi restaurant. I also believe it's an acquired taste. The most common roll is the California roll which generally consists of crab meat (cooked), avocado, & cucumber wrapped in rice and wrapped in seaweed. The seaweed doesn't have much taste but the flavors together are phenomenal.
I'd recommend trying this first for anyone curious about sushi. Oh, and eel sauce So delicious. It is a very sweet flavored sauce.
The fish is not the same grade fish you would buy in your local supermarket. |
I too love tempura-anything. Anything. I agree, sushi tastes so fresh - and there is a taste explosion in your mouth. If you eat a piece of a roll, there are layers of different tastes, each one different, and it's incredible.
Seriously (this is kinda embarrassing), when me and hubby go out for sushi, and we put a piece in our mouths - we often have to close our eyes, bc it is *that good*. Or, we do a little chair dance.
Sushi = little moments of taste ecstasy!
