Having a first aid kit is a great idea, but also knowing exactly what to do with the "stuff" in it is even more important.

A few things that I always keep are: hydrogen peroxide, liquid children's cherry-flavored benedryl, gauze, stretchable surgical tape, styptic powder, first-aid sprays that are both antiseptic and anesthetic, alcohol, pepto bizmol, as well as hydrocortisone spray and cream. I have a drawer of stuff that is just for my doggies that I've kept replinished for years. I can't even remember everything in there at the time, but I do have a first aid book that I've had for years in there, too. Hope this helps some.
