We brought Bella home at 11 weeks and even though she was a joyous ball of fun and playfulness, she really wasn't any kind of a lap dog. She preferred to play and still prefers to play with our other dogs and our cats!

Anyway, Bella is now 6 months old and just recently she has begun to spend a little more time in our laps. She now comes to us for petting and will take a short nap in the lap or laying beside us in our chair. She still doesn't lay there all night or for hours but much longer than when she was a younger pup.
As for the barking Bella does not bark at noises or at other animals outside the yard, but when she wants to play or wants something that another dog has she will bark till you go mad. We are working on this problem and slowly we are making headway but it does take time.
Bella is the most playful, sweetheart and even though she isn't a "lapdog" yet I know she is headed that way. We just have to wait for her to sow her wild oats!
