certainly looks like an abscessed tooth to me too... we had the same thing here and it was quite shocking to see, I ran him right to the e-vet.
He was on antibiotics for a week, then he had the surgery to remove the tooth and clean out the inside, then 2 weeks on soft food and he was back to his old self again!
