I would add that relying on someone on the internet is never the way to go. It's so very hard to get a clear picture of what's going on without being there. It's not an ideal situation and is difficult to advise someone under those circumstances.
This is just one of those situations where the advice the OP had been given by her vet was poor and she was very unprepared. She simply didn't know just how much she needed to know. Another very good example of why a mentor is needed with these babies.
All would-be breeders can take a lesson from this. I know it can be difficult to understand how involved breeding Yorkshire Terriers can be. It is not the same as with other breeds, though preparedness and knowledge are important with breeding any dog. It is essential in the case of Yorkies and the lack of research, preparation and an experienced mentor can easily lead to tragedy.
Like all the others, I'm praying for a great outcome in this situation. I hope everyone pulls together and gives Betty the support she'll need in caring for these babies. No matter whose house they're in, they're all "our" Yorkies
