It's not unusal for dogs to want to poop and pee in different places. Animals in the wild do this all the time. We keep a poop pad in a seperate location. If you want to train for outside, you could crate overnight, and take him out first thing in the morning, and I mean carry him outside. If you plan to train to go outside, you will need to take him outside every couple of hours, and it's actually much easier to pee pad train.
