49 years...it seems unimaginable that it took that long. I've been a Red Wings fan ever since I started watching hockey, so I've been spoiled to a cup-winning team.
However, this year was clearly Chicago's year. They had a great team and worked really hard to win, so they definitely deserve it. My wife doesn't like watching hockey on TV, but we go once every year or so to Dallas when they play the Wings, and she really enjoys it.
We used to have an ECHL team in Lafayette, LA: The Louisiana Icegators. After setting record after record in attendance, because of poor management it ended up fading and the team went away. I miss going to local games
