Well, what you could try is desensitizing him to the process, but it will take some time.

First, just let him approach the comb or brush on his own. When he does, praise and treat. Make it fun! Repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat until he seems completely comfortable and happy with the idea. Advance to him approaching you with the brush in your hand (praise, treat, repeat) to that plus he's in the location where you normally groom him(praise, treat, repeat). Only when he's comfortable with that can you start doing 'one stroke - treat, 2 strokes - treat' and slowly building up till you treat only at the end. You may be able to teach him to ENJOY grooming this way!

Alternately, I've read that smearing a dab of peanut butter on the wall (or wherever) for them to lick off distracts them nicely.
