I agree it sounds like allergies. I would definitely say that this requires a trip to the vet. Until you can get to the vet, for immediate relief I would recommend a bath. Following the bath use a chamomile tea bag, wet it in warm water and just lay it on the spot(s) for a few minutes a couple of times a day. Chamomile sooths the skin and tea draws out infection.
