This happened to me about a month ago and I rushed both pups to the vet even though only one had symptoms. Now I know even though its really gross, its not an emergency. Even though they are on a preventative, its a fluke that they ingest the one contaminated flea. Max was treated with Drontal Plus; 1 tablet and then 1 more tablet in exactly 3 weeks. |
ok, just when I thought it couldn't get ANY worse...
earlier, I had the bright idea to wash my Maddie's bed out of her crate. it is a rectangular shape bed with sides. As I flipped the bed inside out to wash, small "things" dropped onto the washer. I got a wet paper towel and wiped them up to look at. They were small tan hard "things" a little bigger than a flea and fatter, but not quite as big as a grain of rice. I even broke one in half with my fingernail (smart, huh?). Odd, I thought to myself, must have come out of her bed.... so, then I decide to get a wet papertowel and wipe out the inside of her crate while her bed was washing. Looked at the papertowel and see another 6 - 8 "things" along with some hair and dust (I know, I was amazed to find dust in my house too!)
Now I read this and figure out that those little hard "things" were probably DRIED UP WORMS.
THAT MEANS SHE HAS HAD THEM FOR AT LEAST SEVERAL DAYS

THAT MEANS THEY HAVE PROBABLY BEEN ON ME EVERY NIGHT!

(she sleeps on my lap before we go to bed)
as I said earlier:
ewwwwwww, ewwwwwww, and more ewwwwwww
I am definately going to go have a glass of wine.....or the whole bottle...... goodnite everyone, and thanks for your input. If you read about anyone from Texas being carted off to the funny farm talking about worms all over them, it's probably me....
I may never eat rice again...
