I nipped it in the bud from day 1 with Raley. One of the reasons I have never liked indoor pets is because of begging. So, I always placed Raley in his kennel when we would sit down to eat. I only do that now if we have guests. However, he knows not to beg because he was not exposed to us eating, etc...maybe you could put your baby in a kennel or in another room with his food while you eat until he learns his behavior is not acceptable.
