I wouldn't say it's supposed to be 'normal.' I would never put up with a dog acting like so, but it is becoming a common occurrence with more little dogs than anything. Owners spoil the dogs, and dogs take over! lol. Yorkies can be protective- yes, alot of terriers are, but it needs to be controlled by the humans! Don't allow him to do this. Take him right off the bed or your lap or wherever when he does this to show it's not allowed. Re-direct his attention elsewhere with a treat or toy. Praise him when he does the right thing. You need to take control and be his pack leader, not the other way around! Set boundaries, rules and limitations! I always like to suggest watching Animal Planet's "It's Me or the Dog" and Nat Geo's "Dog Whisperer" for great tools and tips. |
