This breeder makes me raise my eyebrows. 1st example was the tail docking and now if I am reading right she is saying this is genetic?

Kennel cough is most commonly associated with a bacterial infection caused by the organism Bordetella bronchiseptica. While it is hard to be certain in veterinary medicine when discussing statistics, it is estimated that 80 to 90% of the cases of kennel cough are due to this organism. The other 10 to 20% of cases are caused by a variety of other infectious agents, most of them viral. Kennel cough has been associated with parainfluenza virus, adenovirus and canine distemper virus as well as the Bordetella bacteria. Kennel Cough has a 3 to 5 day incubation period.

You got your puppy at 18 weeks and now it is 5 months - doesn't make sense to use Russian Drugs on something the dog picked up here in the States.

I could not find anything on merck's on this drug.

http://www.merckvetmanual.com nor in my Veterinary Drug Handbook.

I am not even sure if this drug is legal in the US.

Of course I am not to comfortable with your vets response either. He/she is educated about these things, you are not. I really prefer a vet that will work with me and explain everything but give both sides of the issue. Maybe other members might have a take on this but if he can't find the drug and tells you it is your decision-I think I would be looking for another vet. I might be reading to much into his response but I think it is vital to have a good working relationship with a vet.

As many members here know it might take different meds and you have to be extremely concerned with such a little one.

Sorry wish I could have helped more.
