Animal Smiley 049 little larger dog....

I just happened on these posts. I hope a companion has been found for your dad. I think a small dog would be good, in that he can easily pick up and carry, but not good in that they get underfoot. Whenever my mom was visiting as she got older, I'd carry my little Yorkie. I was always worried he'd not be seen, and she'd fall trying to avoid stepping on him....especially when he was excited to see her. It was two-fold....worried about her falling over him, and worried about him getting hurt in the process too.
I think a '20-poundish' dog would be best.
