The original Biewer yorkie has went three different directions since first being imported from Germany over 7 years ago. We have the..
1. Biewer Yorkshire Ala Pom Pon
2. Biewer
3. Biewer Terrier
Those who own and breed the original "Biewer Yorkshire Ala Pom Pon's" still believe the Biewer to be a tri yorkie.
Those who own and breed "Biewers" believe they began as tri yorkies...but believed they have "evolved" into their own breed. I have heard they now consider their dogs "yorkie cousins".
Those who own and breed "Biewer Terriers" at first believed they were tri yorkies as well, but then said they were mixed with other breeds somewhere along the line. But now claim they evolved into a distinct breed of its own.
It seems the dogs began to miraculously evolve into new breeds after some clubs realized they would never gain AKC status as a tri yorkie. They needed to become a new breed.
Personally I can't understand how a new breed can evolve from a well establish breed such as the yorkie in such a short time frame...with or without the mixing of other breeds into it.
But then again...I am no scientist or geneticist and have no idea if this is even possible. JMO.
