Teddy is a crier too - when he is excited or wants something. He only growls and barks when he senses "real" danger, which is rare. Personally, I'll take the unusual noises over the barking.

Max went through a stage where he barked at every command. It ended when I tried to teach him "speak." Of course, he shut his mouth.
