At first yes. I had my younger bro sit in the back seat with Kaji and give him treats for being calm. Now, he doesn't even bother jumping out. I have one similar to your first link, but it is much simpler and I got it for about $20 on amazon. I also keep the "leash" attachment really short, it's enough for him to lie down, and sit up comfortably, but he can't dangle out of the seat. It works great, and I can finally back into parking spots without having a pup jump up and down on my lap. Kaji was always good about sitting in the passenger seat, but when he saw me shift in reverse, he just has to know where we are.
