well funny you should say that - almost had a tragic situation with that with my demi one time so i strongly recommend you put it on one side or in middle and reach out to get them so you do not have them right next to the door as my demi jumped out one time when we were trying to take them out and it was in our landcruiser too so she was way high up and luckily did not land on her head but her side. We were very lucky too as she was ok but it was on concrete too
so yes be very careful
mine are in harnesses and strapped in while driving and in backseat as airbags can kill little dogs so I do not put in front seat due to airbags so unless you have a car that you can shut airbags off on passenger side I would put in backseat
