What roscoesmommy is saying is right on and biblical... I believe that if you ask Jesus into your heart you will go to heaven but there is reward once you get there for the life you lived (or did not live)...I also believe that anyone can twist and turn things to fit their life and justify what they are doing. Alcholism is a disease and illness and the best thing you can do is suggest that he get help not try and debate the bible with him. Scripture is scripture bottom line and when read with an open mind and heart that wants to please God first and foremost is very hard to justify! None of us is perfect which is why God sent Jesus in the first place but that doesn't give us an excuse to openly do things we know are wrong...have him read Hebrews chapters 1-8. Like I said, continue to encourage him to go to treatment which is the best place for him to get help for his disease...
