The thing that makes me feel the best is when people comment on how happy Layla seems. On Tuesday we were at the vet's office for laser therapy, and the waiting room was full, and Layla sling-walked in and sniffed around and "smiled" at everyone! One lady started asking me what's wrong with her and why she can't use her back legs, if she'll ever be able to walk again, etc. And her husband just commented "Well she sure looks happy anyway!" We got the same thing when we picked her up last night from rehab. At least two people commented on how she was so full of spirit. I just hope it helps people to see that with a little dedication any dog can live a full life even when handicapped.

I feel like I hit a point a couple of days ago where I just saw the light... if Layla doesn't improve another inch, I will be happy and love her as she is. She is still perfect to me! We will continue taking her to rehab and I might stick with laser therapy for a few more weeks, but I think in July we'll look at ordering her a cart so she can run around the yard with us in the evenings. That is why we bought our house in the first place
