Bella is a bigger Yorkie 10 lbs and I think this made the difference in her pulling through. Anyway, I don't know why but something in my gut pulled at me and I screamed for her and could see a body just laying listless in the sandbox we had for our two boys who were young then I ran to her and grabbed her and she stood for a minute, pooped and then fell over. I'll make it short. We took her to the emergency ER who took blood and found her liver enzymes elevated. They thought Liver Shunt. She spent the next day at our regular vet for tests. No liver shunt. The vet determined a bug bite and the only thing in our area powerful enough to do that to her was a brown recluse spider. Perhaps, your Bella was bitten by a spider? I know you'll never know for sure and I know nothing will take the pain away of losing her, but perhaps that will give you some closure of at least knowing it was nothing you could have done that caused it. I am so sorry

I think this was probably bee sting or bug bite not Rimadyl. Sounds like she went into anaphylactic shock and stopped breathing as throat swells shut. This is why when a first bee sting I tell people to rush to hospital bc you do not know if they are allergic to it or not and if allergic it can happen so fast. It happened to my mom's co-workers dachsund and it happened to my dh friend a grown man on golf course as he forgot his EPI pen when golfing with buddies and it cost him his life.
I really do not think there was anything you could have done if she was somewhere in house and you did not see her as sometimes dogs hide when they are sick too
If it was rimadyl your dog would have had signs 2 weeks prior as they vomit and have diarrhea not an immediate reaction usually with that.
Again I am so sorry but this may help you understand better what may have happened to ease the pain in regards to the medication.
Without a necropsy it is hard to tell exactly but that is just my gut from what you described below.
