THis whole problem with them started years ago, about 25 years ago, when a Pig Farmer down there imported some large Russian Boars. He figured he would mate his pigs to them and develop a super sized pig with more meat, and more value. Well, some of them broke out of the pens, got lose, mated, and the rest is history. A Hog can start mating at 6-9 months, and can have litters as large as 20. They start adding up real fast.
No, you really can't get a baby hog and raise it as a pot bellied Pig. They can get up to 400+ pounds grow long tusks, and are mean. They will attack if they feel threatened. I can tell stories of just how tough they are, but it might be too much for the squeemish. | I saw your picture of the hog on the ground -- holy HUGEness! Thank you for sharing the back story of the big creatures -- very interesting. |
