It is a very difficult question to answer..there could be many reasons for the loss of a puppy. It could have had an unseen health problem, too cold, not eating, infection, bacterial..on and on...
Your bitch is a bit past breeding age...and her advanced age can lead to problems with pups and the bitch herself..watch for post whelping infection, take her temp twice a day...make sure she eats.
