I decided to try the bells also because Mia, who is 10 months old, would just sit in front of the door and if you weren't looking and took too long, she would just do it there.

I started with taking her out her crate and going to the door and saying, let's go potty and ringing the bells for her. I did this every time I would take her out, Let's go potty and ring the bells. She did it on her own maybe 4 days later and did it on and off.

Now, a month later, she is really letting us know by ringing the bells every time she wants to go out.

Just remember to always ring them and they will associate the bells with going outside.
