I'm interested in hearing response as well. We've had Toby since early December and he was in a foster home for a year with other dogs and people around all the time. His foster mom used to have parties and he was fine with all people. Once he was comfortable in his "forever home" with us, he has been nipping at the back of people's legs and he is very, very protective of his territory (we have a female shichon that's 3 1/2 and she was here long before Toby. He continues to try and be the alpha dog but we do our best not to let him and Speedy has put him in his place a couple times. He will have NO OTHER DOGS in our yard and when we go camping we have friends that have two shih tzu's they bring to our camper because we have a fenced yard. I have to keep Toby on a leash and my dog repeller handy. I wonder why he's so protective as he was used to being around several other dogs at his foster mom's. NO WAY will he keep a muzzle on. I thought maybe if he'd wear that a time or two when the other dogs were around he'd realize they won't hurt him. I have to really watch him when other people are in our home because if he follows them or jumps up, he's trying to nip at them. |
