mine has not really gained weight but i measure her food out or she would eat the whole bag as it increases urine production and hunger so if you are free feeding that could be a problem so maybe measure out food and if still hungry you can add in green beans food processed as that is a filler yet will not put weight on them. You have to be strict with diet as weight can cause more pain if joint issues so you have to keep them real lean if they have joint problems - you have a double edge sword there but if on steroids you really should measure out food or they will put on weight
also a dog on steroids should NEVER HAVE NSAIDS both affect lining of intestines so it is a double whamy to give dog both and why my dog was so jacked up - I knew it and trusted vet and am kicking myself ever since
