If he has begun to mark, neutering alone might not stop the habit. Limit his freedom of movement in your home, supervise closely, and give him a firm "no" when you see him try to mark.

I agree. Ideally, you would have had him neutered right at six months
before he started marking. I would not wait another month if he were mine. The more time the behavior has to become established, the less likely neutering will stop it.
