I wonder where some vets go to school?
You never worm a Yorkie at random like this..take a stool sample yearly at the annual check up for your Yorkie. If it there are no worms, no need to worm...now if you have a problem in your soil with hookworms, you will need to address this situation first.
You can print out some info about worming and when your vets disagrees you can give it to them...I had to do this some years back with giving Lepto vaccine...took awhile for my "old school" vet to agree with me.
