We have life vests for ours. Isabel likes to chase Homer (our Lab) in the water. We throw sticks to him and she cannot let him have them! She can get pretty far. Another reason, we tease, is so a big fish doesn't try to get her, she is so little. Harley had his on and we were putting the boat on the trailer and the guy next to me goes, hey, your dog is in the water! He had fallen in (he liked to walk along the edge) and swum around behind the boat. I just reached down and grabbed him by the handle. Harley liked to attack waves and bite and snap at them and would do so forever if we let him. He never got deep, but instead of worrying he would tire himself out, we just put his jacket on and didn't have to worry as much. They are also great conversation starters when you are walking on the dock! |
