Actually silk coated are more prone to temperature changes than the soft coated dogs. The coat acts as an insulater. I have a pet girl that is soft coated. I keep her in a short cut, just because of matting tendancies and breakage. Actually as soon as I get that AKC Championship Certificate in the mail....out come the clippers....it's easier on me as well as them. No more wrapping, bathing every 4 days......taking the topknot down twice a day......they can run unemcumbered by coat......
