It may be the food. You could gradually try to change his food. My male will eat anything. My female is very finicky (unless it is worm or grubs-those she will eat and/or roll in) but when she is not hungry or doesn't feel good, she will take her nose and try to bury her food. Like she is covering it up with dirt or something. Then she looks all around to make sure no one has seen where she buried it (surprise it still right there, silly girl).
