My little boy is full grown yet still cannot resist the urge to chew on his harness. We take it off when not in use but sometimes need the flexibility of leaving it on (if we expect he needs to go outside urgently or something).

We have gone through two harnesses already and just bought a new one that we thought would be extra tough and he got through it in two days. I sewed it back together but caught him chewing on it AGAIN.

I just rubbed some cayenne pepper along the area where he tends to chew. Is there any way that this can be dangerous for dogs? I want to give him the shock of his life if he tries to chew the harness again but I certainly don't want anything bad to happen to my baby! - I figure that if it is safe than it will definitely make him not want to chew it!
