This was so helpful to me. Charlie is about 4.5 months and I'm having trouble training him. He will sometimes pee on the pee pad but will never, ever poop on it. I do throw a party when he pees and I give him a treat he loves, and next time he might go on the carpet. (He'll never go on the hardwoods or tile, only the carpet.)

I never thought about a privacy issue. I notice when he poops he will either go under the dining room table or behind the coffee table. No matter how much I try things haven't been working.

He wakes up early. Somewhere between 5:00 and 5:45 a.m. I tried to have a routine, turn my coffee on and bring a magazine into the bathroom downstairs, where I keep a pee pad, and shutting the door. I figured if I sat and waited he'd eventually go after waiting all night, right? Nope. I could read a whole magazine and he still won't go (even with me encouraging him and placing him on the pad; he'll just wander off and sit down.)

Now I think maybe, as funny as it seems, he might want some privacy. I think I'll try putting him in the bathroom alone with several pee pads and see what happens. Maybe that will do the trick.

This is why I love this forum; there isn't a day that goes by that I don't learn something new.
