Well, I'm glad Taz is home where she belongs but let me play the Devil's advocate here...she let her run in a 7 acre yard?? Fenced or not this is way too much space for a small Yorkie to be out in all alone. If I were your friend's Grandmother I would fence in a smaller section of that yard right off of my back door where she can let Taz out to play but where she has more control of the situation and where she can reach her if trouble comes around again.
