We just got back from the vet with my 8 month old yorkie and the vet thinks my puppy has Legg-Perthes Disease. My puppy has been limping - favoring her left back leg - since Thurs of last week. They took xrays today and the vet's not totally sure yet but she thinks she may have this hip joint disease. The vet gave us some pain medicine for her and she wants her to rest and then she'll see us again in 3 weeks. Does anyone have any experience with this disease or other hip issues that yorkies may have? Is surgery a must? I was surprised that this happened when she's only 8 months old but apparently that's about the age that this disease happens. Thanks in advance for any input!
