There really is no reason to mate him unless he's an excellent example of the breed. Neutering helps eliminate some forms of cancers and also eliminates the need to mark, which is governed by the hormone testosterone. The number one cause of death in male dogs is accidents related to car injuries, unneutered male dogs are much more likely to run away and can smell a bitch in heat for up to 10 miles. Most vets like to do this around 7 months and you should have the remaining baby teeth pulled at the same time. Yorkies don't lose all the baby teeth on their own, and it's good to have this done during neutering since they have to be under anesthesia to have their teeth pulled.
