I will say that I had a very large maltese; my first dog. He was about 10 -12 lbs and every one else I knew had a little bit smaller ones. He was one of the best dogs I have ever had. And to everyone else . . he was considered downright tiny! (Those that aren't used to tiny dogs). He was very healthy. He had one torn ACL joint when he was about 9 years old - that was it.
Now I have a tiny yorkie - barely 4 lbs. She is a living doll and we love her . . but so fragile. She has many health problems. She has been the vet more in her lifetime (not even a year) than my maltese or my Westie ever went.
I tried to find a very good breeder - not a puppymill.
Not that all tiny ones are unhealthy . . but there is a risk there and they are very fragile.
I think what I am trying to say is count your blessings; you have a beautiful, sturdy, healthy dog. He's adorable by the way! I know you will love him no matter what. |
