I wish I had spent more time learning from my mother. She made it look so easy that I didn't know how talented she was. All of my dresses growing up were handmade.

I agree, but my taste in clothing is different than anything in stores. Would love to be able to sew my own dresses and suits. Before my time, but I enjoy looking at patterns from the late '50s and early '60s -- Audrey Hepburn and Jackie Kennedy style simplicity and super tailored.

I watched the movie "An Education" last week and I wanted the main character's white trench coat and simple blue sheath dress. If only I were talented enough to sew such things.
