I was going to suggest something similar. Kaji loves going bye bye, and he's getting much better at it too! He use to really freak out, especially when something got to close to the car. I put a car seat in the back seat, on the passenger side so I can see him and he can see me. He actually relaxes now! When I roll the window down, he'll hold his head up, enjoying the breeze and sniffing the air. He's less spooked, I worry less, and I drive much better.
