We were told to give him benadryl before going in for shots. I just ask my vet about him NOT having shots anymore, but wasn't aware I had to have a note from them. They told me that I am required by law to have him vaccinated.
So, here's the deal My lil man is named BABY he is going to be 11 yrs old in Sept. he weighed @ VET 1.5 pounds on Saturday. He has 1 tooth, is blind, has a lame, arthritic front foot, and has LP on left hind leg. Do they SERIOUSLY think this dog is going to bite someone? I mean really, he couldn't even if he had the opportunity.
He had a pressure test done on his eyes Sat. and today woke up with it all matted up. So they said to rinse it out with saline and hold off on his steroid drops that we use for the cataracts and make an appt. w/specialists Again. If they weren't sure they could tell anything on his little eyes, then why do it and stress him out and charge me $250. for basically an "I'm not sure he should just go to the Animal Opthamologist".
I usually find such good information on here and just wanted to check the threads, to see what all everyone knew.
Baby also has hair loss. It is the back of his neck and a line all the way down his back that has gotten slightly wider over the last couple of years.
His current blood work Again said everything including thyroid looked good. The vet even said she was surprised that it was all that good, as she expected to see some things off. So, with the hair loss I'm again left with "probably just Allergies" or Alopecia since yorkies are prone to it. ?? I use a natural oatmeal shampoo and a conditioner I got from the vet. And he eats all natural foods & sometimes baby food. I blend his food w/a little water since he is toothless. And like someone told the little hypoglycemic mom to feed every couple of hours, that is what I have to do it to make sure he is eating at least every 3 hours.
If you made it this far, Thanks! I tend to just ramble, but it's all for the love of my Baby. |
the hair loss can be from the rabies vax. i've seen it happen before around the injection site. Personally I wouldn't give him any more vaccines at all. He's older and he's tiny, and i'm sure he doesn't get out much. Since he's had a reaction to it and he's older your vet can write him an exemption letter from getting any more vaccines.
If he's not licensed and the city doesn't know you have him then i just wouldn't bother at all. just refuse any more vaccines the vet wants to give.
